First Impressions - Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth

Last Night, I did a first impressions run of the Early Access version of Record of Lodoss War - Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth.  Needless to say for a game that's been in production for three years, and is only practically demo length, it's damn good and really polished! Also heavy SOTN vibes, but with a bit more refinement from it's inspired sources.

Truth be told, I've been playing a bit of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night previous to this playthrough, and I must say that there are some things expanded on gameplay wise that I wish would of carried over into that game -  another successor (with more 'official' ties) to SOTN, Order of Ecclesia and the later exploratory Castlevania series games. In saying that, I hope that with the release of this game will inspire developers of Metroidvania titles to expand the genre forward with these innovations. Y'know, things that are supposed to happen when you innovate in any medium you work in (If we are to believe that games are indeed art, as they say..).

According to twitter user, siekensou77, Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth has been in production since 2018, and there's video proof that the animation and design have been implemented in other Ladybug games such as Shin Megami Tensei: Synchronicity prologue, and Tohou Luna Nights; two games that for having similar gameplay mechanics and look, both feel like separate, yet fleshed out worlds, respectively.

So to not be so long-winded, it's a damn good title with a solid pedigree, spectacular animations, a razor sharp attention to detail, and a metric but tonne of potential to be one of the best exploratory action games of 2020!

The game is available on Steam right now at a 10% discount at $11.69 USD. The promotion will be on until the 19th of March and then will go back to it's original price of $12.99. If you want to experience this game from the ground floor, please do so! It's definitely worth it. But those of you who want to wait for the final product, keep checking back and when it eventually does release to consoles, please check it out!

Team Ladybug deserves all the praise it's been getting with Synchronicity and Tohou Luna Nights!!

- See you Next Bossfight!
